It's my second time on the plane this year. This time, it's to Limbang.
I stopped by Miri for the best claypot bak kut teh, or at least rumours say so.
Tenth Mile Smell Good Beautiful Food.
This place is so far the best claypot restaurant I have ever experienced. Not only do they have lots of different weird combination of pig's body parts, but they also add in different kinds of herbs and spices.
It's like eating Kentucky Fried Chicken in a soupy way.
Next we have the die-hard traditional hotel.
Welcome to Gloria Hotel.
One thing about this hotel, it's cosy and not costly. But it comes at the price of hygiene. I flipped open the blanket and found a near-fossilized mosquito on the underside of the blanket.
Someone must have slept on it. And probably someone has forgotten to wash or change the bedsheets.
I slept through the night rather peacefully, except that the pillow was too stiff. I like feathered pillows.
Woke up, blur blur. Somehow reached the airport safely. Took a 6.15am flight to Limbang and I saw the smallest airport so far.
Limbang Airport, where there's only one parking slot for an aeroplane.
About 50 passengers, but there's only about 6 taxis. It's a good thing that my colleagues and I only have our hand-carry luggages. We secured a taxi to ourselves.
All we did were: eat, drink, talk, drink, go for a site visit, drink, site visit again, drink, talk, eat, drink, eat. My tank almost leaked.
Behold, the scarecrow that scares away thieves who steal construction materials.
We went to a place named "Good Old Place" for lunch.
Literally, Good Old Place.
This is where I found a new type of Barley drink.
It's fresh barley brewed with winter-melon slices.
It's so good that I might dump wheatgrass C for it.
The "KL Hokkien Mee" is a bit disappointing.
Now I know why Penang is rated to have the best Hokkien Mee, and why Kuching is said to have most of the best Sarawak food. Trust me, I'm not kidding.
It is not that Limbang, Miri and Bintulu food are not nice. It's just that, I grew up in Kuching with all the best food I could find (yet I complained at times), I find it harder to satisfy my own tongue in other parts of Sarawak.
We flew back to Miri before dinner. We decided to abandon Gloria Hotel, and move on.
Welcome to Imperial Palace Hotel.
By paying about RM40 extra, my bedroom gained extra 2 stars. I can finally enjoy feathered pillows. Not one, but four.
Probably the only place for dinner in Miri.
As far as I know, I haven't ate my dinner anywhere else in Miri. Don't know why also.
Just before bed, I had one of the most talked-about drink at night. Just one glass.
Kilkenny just killed my already-diminishing liking for other beers.
I must say, I had fun and enjoyed everything. Tasted the hotels and tested the drink. It's a tiring day, yet fulfilling.
